Oppikoppi Honours Johnny Clegg

The annual OppiKoppi tribute has become quite a thing. Apart from the Heavy Weight Championship belt each artist gets for his life time contribution, it is one of the few opportunities which the left of centre South African audience has to tip their hat. Following on Valiant Swart, Hugh Masekela, David Kramer, Koos Kombuis, Sipho Hostix Mabuse, and Ollie Viljoen, it therefore gives the OppiKoppi family and greater clan, a great deal of pleasure to announce the 2015 tribute artist: Johnny Clegg.

Johnny Clegg is a ground breaking singer, dancer and anthropologist who has never actually played OppiKoppi. So please stand up and welcome one of South Africa’s favourite sons, and get ready to belt out the unofficial anthems with the rest of us, in the dust of the African bushveld.
You will not forget this set.
