James Ingram and Johnny Gill to thrill SA fans in a Valentine’s Day Love Concert

Legendary singer, songwriter and multiple Grammy award winning producer and double Oscar nominee, James Ingram and R&B crooner Johnny Gill, are headed to South Africa to perform in a spectacular one-night only concert taking place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2015.

Ingram, who has performed alongside R&B giants Ray Charles and Marvin Gaye is a phenomenal talent. His breakthrough occurred as a result of a chance meeting with Quincy Jones after Jones listened to Ingram’s demo for Just Once. Jones featured Ingram on his album The Dude, released in 1980.  The Dude became a multi-platinum international success and Ingram received three Grammy nominations and it remains the most Grammy nominated album in history.

The release of his much anticipated debut solo album, It’s Your Night in 1983, surpassed industry expectations and his collaboration with Michael McDonald Yah Mo Be There earned Ingram, his second Grammy for Best R&B Performance and Group and became the most played song of the year. He has also performed major hits such as When You Love Someone featuring Anita Baker which was featured in the 1995 Blockbuster, Forget Paris. Ingram penned the hit Pretty Young Thing P.Y.T for the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson which was featured in the album Thriller, the best- selling record of ALL time, with 50 million units sold worldwide.

Ingram was part of a star-studded line-up at the 2012 Cape Town Jazz Festival and returns to SA to dazzle audiences with some of the greatest ballads including, I don’t have the Heart, Baby Come to Me, a duet with Patti Austin, a record that became a number one pop record to mention a few.

“One cannot help but get excited to visit South Africa. It’s a beautiful country with a rich history and a vibrant energy that inspires me. I love the fans, they welcome you so openly. I can’t wait to perform there again,” James says.
From his humble beginnings in Washington DC, honing his indelible singing skills in the gospel group Wings of Faith, Johnny Gill has performed globally in countries such as Russia, England, Amsterdam, South Africa and Japan to millions of fans as a multi-platinum selling solo artist and member of two legendary singing groups, New Edition and L.S.G, the all-star trio that consisted of Keith Sweat and the late great Gerald Levert.

Credited with elevating New Edition to uncharted levels of greatness Johnny Gill also used his remarkable voice to steer L.S.G to platinum plus success.

Johnny is the perfect example of how an R&B singer should look, perform, sing, and carry themselves. A consummate professional and admired by many fellow superstars Johnny has collaborated with many A-1 music icons including; Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly, Boyz II Men, L.A.
