TASTE THE DARK SIDE WITH BLACK BOTTLE AT TASTE OF CAPE TOWN

Look out at this year's Taste of Cape Town for the bar hosted by famous blended Scotch, Black Bottle.  The whisky is back in black packaging with a revised recipe closer to the original 19th century taste created by founder Gordon Graham.

Experience its richly layered taste with an appealingly subtle smokiness. Try it straight up, on the rocks or in a selection of delicious cocktails with some superb canapés to match.

South Africa's Mr Whisky, Pierre Meintjes, the authority all the aficionados turn to, will be there to tell the story of the new Black Bottle, an ultra-versatile blend of single malt and grain whiskies, created by the expert hand of master distiller, Ian MacMillan.

Fresh and floral on the nose with whiffs of oak and smoke, it opens onto a silky sweet palate countered by delicate smoke and peat and ends on a lingering finish of spice. When it was launched in 1879, Black Bottle came in a black bottle, but when World War I interrupted supplies, the producers switched to green.

Now, a century later, it’s back in its original colour.

Taste of Cape Town takes place at the Green Point Cricket Club from April 10 to 12.Black Bottle sells locally for between R240 and R260 per 750ml bottle.
