Valentine under the STARS

Where: Castle of Good Hope
''Valentine under the STARS, the elegant open-air concert hosted within Cape Town’s iconic Castle of Good Hope, returns for the second time on Valentine’s Day 2015. Internationally acclaimed musicians will perform alongside the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra to create a ‘classic-meets-pop’ concert filled with love and romance, all under the magnificent Cape Town night sky with Table Mountain as a backdrop.

The evening will be hosted by Katlego Maboe, host of magazine show Expresso. Together with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO), conducted by the highly acclaimed Brandon Philips, these performances will create a romantic, spellbound and unforgettable evening.

General admission tickets, which includes a glass of bubbly, wine or soft drink, will be sold at R480 through Computicket. ‘Couple’ tickets (a ticket for two) will be sold for R900. Limited VIP tickets will be on sale at R1800 per ticket which includes prime seating, complimentary food and drinks before, during the interval and after the concert in the elegant VIP lounge. DE LUXE VALENTINE'S DINNER À DEUX AT NEDERBURG

Where: The Red Table restaurant in Nederburg’s historic manor house
The Red Table restaurant in Nederburg’s historic manor house is ramping up the romance this Valentine's Day with a four-course dinner designed to turn on the taste buds to the highest setting. Priced at R650 per couple, the sensuous spread includes not only a 750ml bottle of Nederburg’s refreshingly crisp bubbly, Première Cuvée Brut, but also a very tempting amuse bouche of smoked salmon to whet the appetite.


After popping the cork (and any questions!), and a chance to savour the tingling sparkle of the wine in your glass, you'll be served lemon thyme-flavoured  prawn ceviche; a delicately smoked duck liver terrine; bone marrow-crusted beef and, to crown it all, a hazelnut chocolate spring roll and white chocolate mousse.

The special Valentine's menu is offered at both lunch and supper times on Saturday, February 14 only and booking is essential. No à la carte offerings will be available that day.

Toast romance in the Winelands at The House of J.C. Le Roux on Valentine’s Day

Sweep that special someone off their feet this Valentine’s Day with a Winelands romance at The House of J.C. Le Roux in Stellenbosch, where Le Venue restaurant’s seductive line-up will add a glamorous touch to this special day.

For dinner  Chef Renshaw Adams’ irresistible menu will not disappoint. Available from 19h00 with live music hitting just the right notes, the stage will definitely be set for romance, starting with a glass of uplifting J.C. Le Roux bubbly and an amuse bouche of exotic mushroom spring roll and Porcini mushroom mousse.Choose between oysters or candied bacon and La Vallée pear salad, then tuck into pan-fried Norwegian salmon fillet or parmesan crusted sirloin steak for mains.

 Dessert will truly be a tempting affair of red velvet cheesecake served with crème anglaise and La Fleurette berry compote, or Lindt chocolate crème brûlée served with fresh fruit and pistachio dust. As an exclusive Valentine’s Day indulgence, bubbly fans who purchase two bottles of J.C. Le Roux La Fleurette on the day will receive a complimentary box of sweet treats to enjoy with this vivacious sparkling wine.

5FM presents Love Sucks 2015

Started in 2010, the annual Love Sucks party has been the anti-Valentine’s Day event of the year and 2015 will be no different. We aim to please and we always deliver, so this year we have something new and exciting to offer.
So what more can we do after setting a Guinness World Record for the largest speed dating event (435 participants in 2011), you say?

Think, a sexy party that incorporates your 5 senses. Get the opportunity to touch, taste, feel, hear and see what love can be all about at this year’s Love Sucks party with our Five Senses Love Sensation at venues in Durban and Cape Town. Two hundred pre-registered listeners in each city will experience a wacky sensory overload on Valentine’s Day. Through five experiential zones, listeners can test their senses and select their favourite option. For example:  Listeners will be blindfolded and asked to smell a few things, choosing their favourite and then taste a range of edible treats and selecting the most delicious one. After choosing one object from each of the five sensory zones, they will be given a colour coded band for their choice. Party goers will then have to search for a partner that has the same colour bands. The first 50 partygoers to find their match will have the opportunity to claim prizes at the event. And who knows, maybe find a little love too.

Also available at the event will be an opportunity to donate towards 5FM’s CSi initiative Youngblood5. There will be a game and competition element where you can win prizes by donating towards the cause.Listeners stand the chance to win VIP tickets that include a chauffeur, champagne and partying in the VIP section by tuning into The Roger Goode show 4pm-7pm from the 9 – 13 February.
