South Africa's premier beach club and restaurant, Shimmy
Beach Club, revealed sensational new additions ahead of its summer season. At an exclusive event for Cape Town’s top
lifestyle media and tastemakers, the glamorous Jeannie D presented the venue’s
new vision while the Moët flowed to relaxed chatter. SAMA award-winning instrumental pop group
Sterling EQ’s fresh beats set the mood, while guests rubbed shoulders with
local celebs like Eban Etzebeth, Nicky van der Walt, Siya Kolisi, Steven
Kitshoff, Rob Vember, Twala Ngambi and Brennan Wright.

The key take-out of the evening was that Shimmy is the
ultimate lifestyle venue that balances the style of international party life
and the laid-back atmosphere of Cape Town that we know and love. It has
invested substantially to make it a world-class venue to rival the likes of
Monaco and Ibiza’s beach club scene.

Comprising eight different venues, Shimmy sports a
300-seater restaurant, a 13-metre bar, and stunning furniture that can be moved
around to suit individual events, a Heineken deck, conference and VIP meeting
rooms, a pool deck, a restaurant deck, a private man-made beach, and an area
where the family can kick back and relax. It can be transformed into a
glamorous paradise for just about any event - be it dinner, business or
partying - all under one roof.
Recent substantial upgrades have elevated its status to
international standards, making it one of a kind in South Africa. With more
restaurant space, a permanent stage set up, a new Shimmy boutique, kitchen
upgrades and improved booking systems, Shimmy can cater for any event, be it
for ten people or 2,000.
The newest addition is the venue’s sexy summer menu.
Introduced by Executive Chef Adrian Cook - formerly from The Cradle Restaurant
at the Cradle of Humankind - the menu is colourful with vibrant Mediterranean
influences including healthy options and great choices for kids and
vegetarians. The focus is on flavour and good value for money.
An exciting summer campaign called ‘Summer Calling’ starts
on November 30 2014. These ten weekends will be filled with great party nights
on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as a few mid-week parties thrown in.
Featuring international DJs and pool parties from 3pm to the early hours of the
morning. On Fridays, “Shimmy Anthems” parties start to the sound of deep house
DJs. Saturdays see “Shimmy Pool Party”, when it cools down with Ibiza-style
parties, amazing dinners overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and cool DJs playing on
a poolside stage. Sundays continue to deliver the best party in Cape Town, with
the return of the legendary “Goldfish Submerged Sundays”.
