Vodacom is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated
winning band for this year’s Open The City competition. While it was a tight
race, electronic rap duo P.H.fat received the most public votes and will now
have the honour of being the only local act to perform at Vodacom In The City
alongside the international lineup of Rudimental, MGMT, Crystal Fighters and
The Presets.
The competition saw thousands of votes come in via SMS and
online from music fans eager to see their favourite band on stage. For several
fierce (but fun) weeks, P.H.fat went beat-for-beat against fellow Open The City
finalists Bye Beneco, The Plastics and The Kiffness to rally their fans’
support in a bid to win. This culminated in the energetic Open The City Session
event, where the finalists had one last chance to sing for their votes.
On 3 October, P.H.fat will take to the Vodacom In The City
stage to shake things up with their “homemade” explosive mish-mash rap sound.
The fresh and talented duo deliver an incredible live performance that
encourages massive crowd participation and will be sure to get fans charged up
and ready to party.
They are best known for their current blow-out hit single
‘Lights Out’, which play-listed on more than 12 radio stations across the
country from their most recent 17-track full-length album, ‘Happiness
Machines’.
"Shout-outs to Vodacom and all the Homies who voted for
us. We're really excited to put together a show that takes the crowd somewhere
brand new," says P.H.fat’s Smooth Mike.
See P.H.fat perform live at Vodacom In The City on 3
October. Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown.
