PULSE DERMATOLOGY & LASER LAUNCHES IN CAPE TOWN

Pulse Dermatology & Laser, based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town is set to revolutionize the beauty industry with its treatment and product offering, most of which are unique to South Africa.
AMY BOWIE

Amy Bowie is the beauty and brains behind Pulse Dermatology & Laser. Having spent six years in the UK, she trained and worked alongside world-renowned dermatologists and plastic surgeons including Dr Frances Prenna Jones, Miss Sherina Balaratnum and Mr Saif Dean Rhoabaye. Her client list included the rich and famous A-listers of the world such as Kate Moss and Louise Redknapp. Featured regularly in the press, Amy became a pioneer in the industry, going on to lead and train teams of medical therapists at E.F. Medispa - the top clinic chain in the United Kingdom - where she also lead the team to receive the UK’s Gold Standard Aesthetics Award in 2011.

After returning to South Africa she decided to share her international expertise in her hometown by opening Pulse.

“The South African market is extremely different to the rat race in the UK. Plastic surgery is common overseas and normally the first choice amongst consumers, however in Cape Town patients are more cautious and discreet, looking for that non surgical alternative as opposed to cosmetic surgery.” Says Amy.

Majority of the advanced equipment and skincare is imported from the United Kingdom. “Due to my experience and training in the top clinics in the UK, I am extremely lucky to have all the latest treatments and procedures at my disposal. My goal is to bridge the gap between medical treatment and “beauty” so that aesthetically speaking we can have longer lasting benefits. I believe people need to be treated as a whole, from inside to out, which is why we do a comprehensive medical history and consultation to ascertain a patients needs, from supplements to home products and in clinic treatment too. I had a large male client following in the UK so it is no surprise that I also cater to the growing male market.”

The list of treatments available and products offered at Pulse Dermatology & Laser include; pain free laser and skin treatments for white and African skin that have won the gold standard aesthetic awards in the United Kingdom, Non-Surgical Rhinopasty, the Vampire Facelift, non-surgical facelifts, Alma lasers soprano XLI - painfree laser hair removal, Alma lasers soprano XLI - pain free laser skin tightening and body sculpting, Nue Skin 500 microdermabrasion and LED light therapy, Dermasense - slimming and body sculpting - suction, ultrasound, infra red, diamond dermabrasion, Dermaroller – micro needling, Cosmelan- depigmentation program, Meso estetics and Dermaquest.

The biggest trend hitting South Africa at the moment is Laser, which is why it forms a large percentage of the services offered at Pulse. “Laser Lipo seems to be huge here in Cape Town,” Comments Amy,  “However I find that in most cases patients are getting more water loss with this treatment than anything else, which has resulted in us bringing in London’s star body tightening laser, The Near Infra Red in motion laser from Alma lasers -NIR. This not only speeds up the localised metabolism of the area treated, but it instantly tightens the skin. The results have been fantastic! And because it is working deep in the skin and fatty tissue, the results last! It gives the effect of a bottom lift and is great for saddle bags, muffin tops, excess weight around the abdomen and even those bingo wings.”

With a passion for dermatology and advanced aesthetic procedures, Amy leaves no stone unturned in her quest to stay abreast of all the new scientific studies and developments in the field of aesthetic medicine and is set to become a pioneer in non-surgical aesthetics in Cape Town.
