Mad decent block party mads up Joburg

So this weekend was the mad decent block party that took place at mary fitz square in new town, oh boy oh boy, after months of waiting for the event to make its way to South Africa, we made history, it was the first time the mad decent block party ever took place anywhere else outside the united states, how lucky are we.

It was a truly wild show of professional twerking, dancing, crowd-surfing, C02 cannons and of course, Diplo’s human hamster ball! Party goers dressed up, brought water guns and inflatable toys and twerked and danced their way through the day and night
Dillon Francis got the crowd going with his unique brand of “reggae tone meets Dutch House”, DJ duo Flosstradamus brought their irresistible sense of fun to their banging set, while American Moombahton artist Paul Devro and local DJ / producers Das Kapital and Sibot & Toyota got the crowd raving.

Jozi revelers danced to Liver and the king of drum n bass Niskerone. But the climax of the shows was certainly headliner Major Lazer, whose show was a fully-fledged production in itself and something one can only really understand if they were there to experience its epic scope!

celebrities

Not many celebrities were in attendance due to miller boom town, but we managed to spot Mr everywhere you go (Maps Maponyane) , the boring but sexy poppy (5fm DJ) was also there I loved how she always try to act normal in front of people was still sober to try start up a conversation with her. Tamera Dey was also at the event, looking sexier than ever, how old is this woman, she just gets hotter with age and she managed to get my heart beating with those shorts that showed of those sexy legs (oh damn). Spotted Aka, JR and HHP having a good time in the VIP area.

The good.
For me it was a once in a lifetime experience, I have never been to an event of that magnitude, I like how they gave everyone an experience, involving the crowd into their performances especially during major leazers performance.  where they did an unnecessary move and called upon girls in the crowd to come and join in and twerk, which was as I mentioned before unnessery because a lot of white girls confidently jumped on stage, I don’t know I really don’t know, white girls and twerking it never ends well but it was fun seeing them try (you know it happens but..) oh well , (damn you miley cirus).

I liked how they mashed up different genres of music from hip hop, edm (electro dance music) and reggae  and they always managed to fuse local music in their I heard mafikzolos khona  in one of their mash ups mixes.

Oh and lets not forget that awkward sexy moment where the twerkers that were performing alongside Major Leazer when they called up two guys to come on stage for something which even I don’t know what was happening, which involved both guys hands being tied with a belt yeah, the girls started spanking them with belts and twerked all over their bodies (lucky b……ds) if only I had that courage to drop my drink and go up on stage #sigh I would be telling you a different story
    The sexy twerkers

My favorite moment had to be when Dillion got in his famous ballon and jumped into the crowd, and started rolling in that ball, I’m guessing I’m just going to call it ball surfing (trade mark) since crowd surfing is starting to be overrated everyone’s doing it, dangerous but it was fun, personally wouldn’t try it but he made it look easy and cool.

The production was on point big ups to seed experience they always create such amazing stage production with some crazy and insane lighting. The crowd was insane. People had so much fun, we were all dancing and united (my feet still hurt) mxm.
  •  The bad

·         The alcohol prices, damn the amount I paid for a glass of olmeca, shouldn’t it be on special if they are the main sponsor of the event, liked  really two shots of tequila mix for R60 something.

overall it was a great event, wouldn't mind attending it again next year (hint hint olmeca Tequila), thank you to the wonderful team from capacity relations. seed experience big ups to another awesome event.
