Sensation South Africa 2013, presented by Samsung

With just under three weeks until South Africa witnesses the global phenomenon that is Sensation Innerspace, one incredible and essential aspect that adds to the spectacle of the event is the all-white dress code. For one night only on the 7th of September 2013, the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg will be transformed into a sea of white as dance enthusiasts experience the debut of the world’s leading dance event on the continent of Africa. This tradition was, sadly, born from a tragic event: When ID&T (the organisation behind Sensation) co-founder Duncan Stutterheim lost his brother Miles in a car accident in 2001, all visitors were informally asked to dress in white for that year’s show. More than 80% of the visitors adhered to this tribute and this marked the birth of the well-known Sensation dress code as we know it today. Sensation ‘Innerspace’ South Africa will make no exception and stick to the memorable tradition that will add a sensory array of enlighten...

Movie Review: Grown ups 2

Starring: Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, Salma Hayek and Nick Swardson Running Time: 101 minutes Genre: Comedy Grown Ups was released in 2010 fast forward three years later Sandler releases the sequel to the first offering Grown Ups 2. I am going to be honest and say that I could not help wonder why the would be a sequel to the first movie cause well I got the point in the first one. However first five minutes of the movie I was already laughing oh and did I mention that Rob Schneider does not appear in this one, hallelujah! Lenny (Adam) drives the school bus the morning because the bus driver played by Nick is really out of it. While picking up school kids he also picks up his friends (Rock and James) and they head over to KMart to do what, heavens knows why. When they finally leave James character performs something he calls a 'burpsnart' a combination of a burp, a sneeze then finally yep a fart haha that was kinda funny though. Shaq even makes an appe...

Weekend Gig Guide

Last chance to get your tickets to this year’s Comic’s Choice Awards.

Tickets are almost sold out for The 3rd Annual Comic’s Choice Awards™ (CCA), which takes place   next Saturday   night,   24 August   at the Teatro at Montecasino.  With signature secrecy, the creative team remains tight-lipped about what audiences can expect, other than to say that they are pulling out all the stops to deliver another dynamite production.  Taking the format of a hilarious variety show at which six awards are handed out, winners are required to perform seven minutes of stand-up in lieu of an acceptance speech, so those lucky enough to have purchased the few tickets available to the public are in for a treat! Earlier this year, the comedy industry submitted ideas for the sketches that they’d like to perform and the CCA team had the tough time of selecting the best (and funniest) ones to schedule into the show. With fantastic collaborations and a few wildly unlikely appearances, SA’s top comics, budding newcomers, celebs, VIPs and co...
