HUSTLERS CORNER : INTERVIEW WITH MLAH MSANI

Student at Durban University of technology (operations management), part time cocktail bartender, member of SMB_DBN and founder of @liquiTrendSA

·         So tell us about yourself?
My name is mlamuli msani known as mlah a nickname I got in Durban, I grew up in the ghetto side of Durban umlazi raised by my gran at a young age because my mom had me at a young agand eventually moved to the suburbs with my mom when I was a toddler . Was never a popular kid in high school was more like a loser in high school didn’t have much friends in school had to take a class in martial class just to protect myself from high school bullies, I love studying just completed a diploma in operations management at Durban university of technology.

·         What’s the misconception that people have about you?
Many people who don’t know about me like to say “that I think I’m that I’m too fresh” but I’m a fun relaxed chilled person that is very social, you have to get to know me first.
·         What was it like growing in Durban?
Growing up in Durban was awesome come on like its Africa’s playground, the land of beautiful people where everyone is friendly, where we enjoy partying, rolling at beaches and living it up like we in Miami because it’s very cheap to go out that’s why we always out but you have to be careful because the Durban night life can be hectic because its incredible fast.

·         You a member of SMB DDN, can you tell us what is all about, is it a boy band? What do you guys do?
SMB DBN is (sophisticated monkey brand), it’s a rapid lifestyle movement based in Durban, which consists of graphic design, fashion, art, entertainment and photography. Our fashion brand is a combination of art and vintage, we design for #BAPs bennies and #hatersGonnaHate T’s. SMD is run by incredibles in Durban. In terms of entertainment we host one of the most popular house parties in Durban; we also do SMD springbreak party. In terms of photography we deal with major events in Durban (the annual jazz festival) and we also do photoshoots.

·         You the founder of liquiTrendSA tell us more about what it is and what motivated you to start the business?
liquiTrendSA is a mobile bar services that I have initiated and it is still premature but it specializes in cocktails, smoothies and general beverages which is co-owned by three people. I used to work as a cocktail bartender, so I’m using my experiences behind the bar and turning it into a business and a dream.
