PRODUCT REVIEW: PHILIPS AIRFRYER XL

By Castro Cruz and Gift Khosa Gone are the days when frying pans and deep fryers were the only means of frying food. A magnificent kitchen appliance has been launched by Philips. It is the Airfryer, as the name suggests it fries food with air. At first we didn’t quite get the idea behind it, but soon after unboxing this magnificent piece of technology it all made sense. The Airfryer is available in two colors metallic white and blazing black. I have the blazing black one. Personally, we thought nothing would ever replace the “frying pan”, but after making my first meal with the Airfryer I literally said goodbye to my frying pan. This product uses touch technology to switch it on and off as well as to adjust heat levels and cooking time. With heat levels ranging from 0 degrees Celsius to 200 degrees Celsius, one can fry anything that is fried on the frying pan. CAPE TOWN: ONE INGREDIENT DINNER 25/26 JULY

Officially into the midst of Winter, Matt Manning and the One Ingredient team has announced the one ingredient to be the hero of their next menu: the vegetable fennel. 

From the earthy bulb of the vegetable to the sweet liquorish flavoured leaves, fennel is a hugely versatile ingredient, whose qualities will be fully appreciated and understood at the   upcoming One Ingredient dinners taking place on July 25th and 26th. Upon arrival, guests will be served Fennel inspired canapés, followed by dinner comprising of a light fennel and liquorish veloute . Guests will head through to the kitchen where Matt will demonstrate the starter that will be shellfish ravioli, prawn and lemon grass bisque, fennel fondue, spiced aubergine, tomato and basil. Guests then have the opportunity to recreate the starter before sitting down and enjoying their dish with a carefully selected wine paired with a selection of Glenwood wines courtesy of Damn Fine Wines.

RESTAURANT REVIEW: MZITHOS KITCHEN

Checked out Mzithos kitchen located in Braamfontein (johannesburg) corner biccard and juta street. Mzithos a popular restaurant for students due to their affordable menu and delicious braai meat (steak, wors,brisket and steak) and also some other cuisines like Mutton , been hearing a lot about this restaurant from friends so it was high time i check it out for  myself was never one to believe what people say but try experience it myself.  Zone 3: Pap, drumstick, wors,brisket , tomato salsa, gravy  Menu  the popular menu on the dish is the zone 3 dish, which consists of brisket, a slight big piece of wors and drumstick served with slides Tomato salsa and curry cabbage with your choice of either pap, rice or dumpling. Personal prefer braai meat with pap, never tried braai meat with dumpling or rice.  Presentation  the plate was presented very simple, the pap was in one plate and the meat in the other plate....
