SA MUSIC LEGENDS UNITE AT HUGH MASEKELA HERITAGE FESTIVAL

The Soweto Cricket Oval will groove to the sounds of some of South Africa’s world class music legends on 29 November when Hugh Masekela, Tsepo Tshola and the Soul Brothers perform at the Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival. These three artists, whose careers have influenced and defined the SA music, both locally and internationally, are excited to unite to celebrate our country’s diverse rainbow nation.

Presented by Assupol and Kaya FM, the Heritage Festival is taking place for the second year running and lies close to Bra Hugh’s heart; the world-renowned trumpeter and heritage activist who is passionate about promoting and growing the heritage and culture among the youth of South Africa.

“My biggest obsession is to show Africans and the world who the people of Africa really are,” says Masekela, “and this Festival will be a great showcase of our traditional and modern musical talents. It’s going to be a great party!”

Speaking about how they felt about performing alongside bra Hugh, The Soul Brothers said, “We are very thrilled to be performing in this festival, because we haven’t been on the same stage as Mr Masekela in a while, we are also excited about performing in Soweto, it is one of our favourite places, even though we are not originally from Soweto we love the kind of vibe and energy we get from people in this township.”

“Bra Hugh is an old friend of mine and performing on the same stage as him is always a pleasure. I am really looking forward to what will be another great memory for us”, added Tsepo Tshola.

The eclectic line-up also includes Beatenberg – the new face in SA pop music, modern folk musician Jeremy Loops, as well as Laurie Levine & Josie Field.

The Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival is a day of music, celebration, fun, food and entertainment for all ages. Tickets are now available at Computicket.

The Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival is presented by Assupol and Kaya FM.
