Fezile Dabi HIV/AIDS Benefit Concert 2014

The Annual Fezile Dabi HIV/AIDS Benefit Concert is set to raise more funds this year as it marks its 11th Year anniversary in 2014.

The Fezile Dabi District Municipality was saddened by the death of former HIV/AIDS ambassador, Lesego Motsepe in early 2014. She was a South African actress best known as Letti in the popular soapie, Isidingo. AIDS Activist & speaker Criselda Kananda has been appointed as the new ambassador, as announced by Executive Mayor of Fezile Dabi Municipality, Cllr. Moeketsi Moshidi.

The purpose of the events is to spread awareness about the existence of HIV/AIDS and how to be involved in fighting the diseases. This includes involving everyone within the community of the district and its neighbouring provinces while focusing on community involvement.

The programme has attracted more people to participate since 2004,by reaching and capturing the attention through entertainment whilst educating and raising funds.

The main concert returns at Abrahamsrust Resort in Sasolburg and is set to take place on 29 November 2014, bringing you a calabash of Mzansi’s best artists which will feature some of Fezile Dabi’s very own local acts.

On Wednesday, 29 October 2014, a business breakfast was held handing over funds raised to beneficiary NGOs, and this coming Saturday, 01 November 2014, a Health, Wellness and Sports Day will be held at the Correctional Services Training College in Elandia, Kroonstad where patrons will be enjoying different activities including; Fun Walk, Soccer and Netball tournaments for local teams and legends games at the end of the day. The event is free to all patrons.

A Golf Day will be held on 14 November 2014 taking place at Vaal De Grace in Parys. Local businesses will be playing golf with leadership of the district and the province to raise funds for the initiative.

The benefit concert sends out a strong aspect of local development and aims to create a positive contribution towards a campaign that seeks to drive HIV/AIDS awareness and to raise funds for various NGO’s within the Fezile Dabi District Municipality.
