SUICIDE SQUAD EXPERIENCE

Hi everyone, I am back from that small hiatus, so haven't blogged nor done a review because I choose to oblivion on what was happening in the blog sphere but let me not bore you with my personal sob stories.

Last weekend, I was amongst the many who queued up in the long lines at the movies to watch the highly anticipated DC comic movie, Suicide Squad, at Sker-kinekor in East gate Mall. Let me start by saying how eagerly waiting to watch the movie after watching the trailer online last year.  After patiently waiting for a full year to get the opportunity to watch the movie and mind you ignoring all the American reviews that I was bombarded with on my social media timeline and not letting FOMO get the best of me, I finally dragged my friend and went to watch the movie.

Here is what I thought about the whole suicide squad experience.

The basic

Where does one even begin to describe the movie, if you are like me and you saw the thriller, you will agree with me that the move was a bit too over-hyped it and it failed to live up to live up to my expectation and I am sure a lot of people can relate. It’s only fair to say I expected so much from the movie, especially after watching the amazing trailer that prompt a lot of people to want to go watch the movie. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying the movie was terrible, my words I repeat, I didn’t live up to the expectation that I had in mind when I went to watch the movie, but again that’s also my fault for setting my expectations higher and ending up with many disappointments.

The Good.
The characters that stood out for me was Viola Davis who portrayed government official Amanda Waller, and Margot Robbie who portrayed psychotic Harley Quinn aka The Jokers GF. Their portrayal of those characters was seamless and entertaining to watch. Another standout was Jared Leto portrayal of the Joker; he brought some humor and a bit of panache to the iconic character. Cara Delevingne was another standout actor also, portraying the role of Dr. June Moone / Enchantress; she managed to seamlessly portray an innocent archaeologist who magically turns into revenge hunting enchantress.

The bad
The movie was really good, it was really hard to pinpoint a bad thing about the movie, but somehow the movie failed to live up to its expectation from me especially the story line. Would I watch it again? I would have loved to see the joker getting more screen time.
Should you watch it?
Yes, I would strongly recommend you to go watch it but don’t have too much expectation. The movie is not terrible but was it good? You have to judge for yourself.

Overall I rate the movie a 7/10

Thank you for the wonderful experience Ster-Kinekor and the Ogilvy PR ladies-Ow you doing Gugu and Lebo :)
